when i was young i was just like you
eating bones and making shoes
til one day i came across a lid
and he told me showed me what he did

come and have a seat with tom tutley
take a little tea with me youll see

so when i approached the curious lid
it said something yes it did
i wiped eyes thought that i was insane
but the lid knew the refrain

you say you wanna know about the lid
but once you do you'll wish you never did
the maggots they have spread
they are now inside your head

is there a frizzy boo?
do i really make the shoe?
who is the mustache man?
oh no the fuckin lid again

is it all in my head?

they are all crawling on me
I'm the meat now can't you see
id crawl under the lid
to undo all the things that i did

the lid is everyone.

FAIRYTALE
so i walked away from the lid i did
what a load of bollocks tom tutley had said
turned my back on the top, shan't return again
close up shop, the meadow's dead

then all of the sudden i heard note being sung
i thought it was a D but i only heard it once
I screamed "who is it that sang that note that i heard"
but nobody approached, nobody conversed

i said enough of this meadow and enough of this note
enough of this dreaming, ill forever clean the moat
i can't beat the mustache man, no matter what i do
ill never be with frizzy i am married to the shoe

meters from the meadow wall when i heard the note again
i said ok ok you win ok now let me go to bed
then all the sudden a ray of light shot from the ground it did
i turned around, wiped my eyes, THE BEAM WAS COMING FROM THE LID

the color was one i'd never seen before
more beautiful than all the lights in all the shops and stores
then the LID started raising off the ground as it was spinning
and said, "I'm the one who sang the note" and then started singing…….

when life is treating you very well
arduous and boring
all that you need is a fairytale
and in your heart youll know its true
